The Early Years
In 1901, Stanmore Baptist Church (SBC) was established by a handful of Christians who wanted to reach the growing city of Sydney with the good news of Jesus. The church called C.J. Tinsley from Spurgeon’s College, London to be it’s first pastor.
SBC rapidly became a centre for evangelism and a base for building up the wider church. The church had a vibrant ministry to children, supported missionaries and positively impacted the community over the 44 year ministry of C.J. Tinsley. More information about the First Fifty Years can be found here.
This gospel zeal would continue over the course of time with various ups and downs in the life of the church. Since it’s founding, God has proven Himself to be steadfast and faithful throughout our church’s history.
